Welcome to King Richard III Infant and Nursery School

Sadly, our school is closed now to all but those children of 'key workers' who have no one else to look after them, and those vulnerable children who can't safely be cared for anywhere else. We cannot open to any other children.

The safest place for our children right now is home. Please only take up the key worker place for your child if there is absolutely no other option for child care.

To keep everyone as safe as possible, schools need to be as empty as possible. We are minimising staffing as much as we can, to help to keep our adults safe too.

Help us to help to stop CV-19.

Check out the home learning ideas on each of our class pages - there are lots of good ideas to try out and enjoy together!

This might be fun!

A very warm welcome to our website! We hope it helps you to get a flavour of our lovely school and our hopes and aspirations for our children, as well as a sense of the pride we take in our rich and vibrant school community.

We are an infant and nursery school in Leicester's West End, tucked away in the heart of the city. Our children and families enrich our school with a broad range of languages and cultures and we place a very strong emphasis on providing a nurturing and inclusive environment which is welcoming to everyone. We offer nursery provision in our Daisy and Sunflower classes, in addition to the 180 places in our Reception and Key Stage 1 classes.

We are absolutely committed to being a fully inclusive school where equality of opportunity is a reality for all and where every child really enjoys their learning. We pay close attention to the different groups within our school to ensure that all - regardless of age, gender, disability, ethnicity or background - are given every opportunity to contribute, learn and achieve to the highest standards. Families work very closely with us to support their children’s learning. We provide adult learning opportunities and support for families during times of need.

We believe that values such as kindness, respect, love and honesty are very important and we work hard to ensure our richly diverse and multicultural community live together in harmony.

We offer a learning culture of high expectations and quality teaching that encourages a growth mindset and a belief that all can succeed. We don’t give up - we can do it!

A group of our Year 2 children said this about the school:

"Our school is exciting – you can play and you can talk and you get to meet new friends and help other people. Learning here is really fun because you get better and better at it. Being at our school feels good – you get to do all sorts of things. The building is colourful and cool.
Even if you’re new and you feel a little bit nervous and you don’t know anyone in the school, you get to make new friends and the grownups help a lot.

If you need help with something that you can't do, just ask someone: "Can you help me please?" and they'll help you straight away so you can say thank you. If you have a bump, people help you to get back up and feel better. However you feel, there will be someone to help you."

Our October parents' evening questionnaires this year were amazing!

ALL of the parents who completed a questionnaire (exactly 100!) said that their children are happy and feel safe and that we make sure all of our children are well-behaved at King Richards - the overwhelming majority even agreed strongly with these statements.

ALL of our parents said that we deal well and quickly with any concerns they might raise.

EVERY parent of a child with Special Educational Needs said that we give the child the support they need in school.

ALL of our parents said that their children are doing well at school and we let them know how their children are doing.

EVERY parent said that they would recommend our school to another parent.

We have amazing staff and governors, fantastic children and very supportive parents. Thanks go to everyone for their valued input in making the school such a wonderful place to be. We were very pleased with our most recent Ofsted report (June 2017). The full report can be seen by clicking on the Ofsted link on the navigation bar above.

If you would like to visit and see us during the school day, we would be delighted to show you around and answer any questions you may have. Please don’t hesitate to contact the school office to make an appointment. You can read about our school day here.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school.

Ms Harrison (Headteacher)
