PE and School Sport Partnership

At King Richard III Infant School, Physical Education is given a high profile which is reflected in the many activities we are involved in.  For a number of years the school has recognised the benefits of a strong Physical Education Curriculum and extra-curricular activity on the raising of young people’s aspirations and self esteem, which is also clearly a key ingredient in the battle against childhood obesity and encouraging young people to live active and healthy lives.
Much of our PE premium is spent on employing Jason Tite, a qualified Sports Coach whose main role is to up skill staff. He is working in the school on a daily basis providing opprtunities for staff to become more confident in the teaching of PE. He also works with lunchtime and playtime staff to organise playtime games. In addition, he does sports activities with our more vulnerable groups of children, runs a range of after school clubs and he does a daily Wake and Shake session.

We have now joined the Leicester City School Sport Partnership and New College Learning and Sport Village. We endeavour to use their expertise, along with our own PE specialist, to support us in utilising our Sport Premium to the full.

Our partnerships are an example of good practice mentioned on the DfE website and within the Prime Ministers report on The Legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
