The Government gives an additional Pupil Premium grant, which is additional to main school funding, as a way to address the current underlying inequalities between 'disadvantaged' pupils - pupils eligible for free school meals (FSM), or children who have been in care at some point in their lives, for example - and their better 'advantaged' peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, we are held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families.
Our Pupil Premium children outperform the national 'other' group (those children who don't benefit from PP funding) every year.
