Attendance in KS1 is now at 94.6%! Please keep working with us to raise this even more - every day in school adds to your child's learning and understanding!

Welcome

A very warm welcome to all visitors to our website!

We hope it helps you to get a flavour of our lovely school and of our hopes and aspirations for all of our children, as well as a sense of the pride we take in our rich and vibrant school community. Please also scroll down the page to see how highly our parents value the work we do as a school.

We are an infant and nursery school in Leicester's West End, tucked away in the heart of the city. Our children and families enrich our school with a broad range of languages and cultures, and we place a very strong emphasis on providing a nurturing and inclusive environment which is welcoming to everyone. We offer nursery provision in our Daisy and Sunflower classes, in addition to the 190 places in our Reception, Key Stage 1 and DSP classes.

We are absolutely committed to being a fully inclusive school where equality of opportunity is a reality for all and where every child really enjoys their learning. We pay close attention to the different groups within our school to ensure that all - regardless of age, gender, disability, ethnicity or background - are given every opportunity to contribute, learn and achieve to the highest standards. Families work very closely with us to support their children’s learning. We provide adult learning opportunities and support for families during times of need.

We believe that values such as kindness, respect, love and honesty are very important and we work hard to ensure the members of our richly diverse and multicultural community live together in harmony.

We offer a learning culture of high expectations and quality teaching that encourages a growth mindset and a belief that we can all succeed. We don’t give up - we can do it!

If you'd like to read more about our Curriculum Vision, you can find it HERE.

We have amazing staff and governors, fantastic children and very supportive parents. Thanks go to everyone for their valued input in making the school such a wonderful place to be. We were very pleased with our most recent Ofsted report (June 2017). The full report can be seen by clicking on the Ofsted link on the navigation bar above.

If you would like to visit and see us during the school day, we would be delighted to show you around and answer any questions you may have. In these very different times, we are also exploring different ways to let parents and visitors know more about our school. Please don’t hesitate to contact the school office to make an appointment.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to our school.

    Parent Questionnaires

Please do look through the overwhelmingly and consistently positive responses we get from our parents every year (below).

At our February 2024 parents' evening meetings, we had 127 questionnaires returned.

The overwhelming majority (99.2%!) of responses from parents said that their children feel happy and safe in school smiley

100% of the responses said that their children are doing well at our school smiley

Here are some of the comments from parents:

At this school year's October 2023 parents' meetings, we had 145 questionnaires returned and were delighted to see a 100% positive response - agree or strongly agree - to the question about whether your children are happy at our school.

*Just two parents weren't sure, because their children are pre-verbal.

The positive trend carried through the questionnaires and continued the happy messages of the last three questionnaires smiley

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Previous years' responses

In October 2022, we had 113 families completing the questionnaire at our October parents evening meetings.

We were proud and delighted that every question was answered positively, with parents agreeing or strongly agreeing with each statement.

The home-school team is really important to us!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We've just collected parent questionnaire responses following our Spring 2022 Parents' Meetings

    • EVERY parent said that their children feel happy and safe at our school. We make sure that our children behave well and deal with any problems quickly and effectively.
    • EVERY parent said that we're good at letting them know what their children will learn during the year, that we have high expectations and their children do well at King Richards.
    • EVERY parent would recommend King Richards to another family.

Before the pandemic, our October 2019 parents' evening questionnaires (before the pandemic) were amazing!

    • ALL of the parents who completed a questionnaire (exactly 100!) said that their children are happy and feel safe and that we make sure all of our children are well-behaved at King Richards - the overwhelming majority even agreed strongly with these statements.
    • ALL of our parents said that we deal well and quickly with any concerns they might raise.
    • EVERY parent of a child with Special Educational Needs said that we give the child the support they need in school.
    • ALL of our parents said that their children are doing well at school and we let them know how their children are doing.
    • EVERY parent said that they would recommend our school to another parent.
